The obtained results: for the first time, the content, functions, forms and methods of the scientific and information activities of the libraries of the General Secondary Education (GSE) institutions were determined, and the method of researching the information needs of different categories of users was proposed; modern methods and forms of work of school libraries to meet users' information needs were improved; the issue of representation of the achievements of pedagogical science through the prism of thesis research conducted in Ukraine during the period 1991–2021, by scientific specialties in the field of pedagogy; bibliographic information on the key problems of the development of libraries of educational institutions; directions for the formation of information resources of educational libraries have been clarified and specified; theoretical and methodological approaches to the creation of information resources of educational libraries and their use were developed and improved ; the following points acquired further development: research of the content of repositories of the network of educational libraries; applied aspects of functioning and use of the factual database "Significant and Memorable Dates in the Field of Education". The scientific novelty of the research results consists in the identification of trends and features of the development of information resources of educational libraries.
