Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description2  A kinetic model of processes in the discharge describing the conversion of carbon dioxide was developed. The influence of the composition of the gas mixture (CO2, CO2/CO/O2, CO2/N2, CO2/Ar, CO2/CH4 and CO2/H2) and the plasma density in the reactor on the electron distribution function (EDF) was studied. It was found that the change in FREE in response to the change in the gas mixture is not significant, except for the high-energy tail. It is concluded that the electron temperature (together with the combined electric field E/N) is the key parameter that determines the energy conversion efficiency η. A set of classical η-χ dependences for different electronic temperatures was calculated, which agree satisfactorily with the experimental data. It was also found that for a discharge with a hollow cathode, the maximum discharge current (optimal mode for plasma conversion) is observed at the value of the gas pressure and the distance between the cathode plates p•dh = 42 Pa•cm. It is shown that the process of plasma conversion of carbon dioxide is controlled by the laws of similarity. At the same time, the determining parameter of similarity is the combined electric field E/N (which corresponds to the electron temperature Te). Product Description popup.authors Dakhov Oleksandr M.
