A “primary” list of 7 species with high invasive potential, which are currently not noted in the region, but are actively spreading in adjacent territories, is considered separately. The specificity of phytocoenotic role of euneophyte Anisantha sterilis in destabilized natural communities was revealed: it is reduced to position of prevalent (adventive dominant). The invasive potential of the species is assessed as “moderate”, as it does not have strong destabilizing effect on vegetation and biotopes of region. In composition of flora of studied region, six progressive species were identified – four herbal species (Dipsacus laciniatus, D. strigosus, Inula helenium, Pterotheca sancta) and two tree ones having “bush” biomorph (Crataegus fallacina, Prunus stepposa). Studies of expansion of Pterotheca sancta revealed that, now, this process does not threat the phytodiversity of studied region. The tendency to change its ecological and coenotic strategy (acquiring features of exuberance) is connected with modern climatic changes. Expanding progressive ligneous species (Crataegus fallacina and Prunus stepposa) into slightly disturbed zonal groups poses high risk to loose phyto- and coenodiversity of steppe vegetation due to environment-transforming role of closed shrub thickets. We revealed the reason for changes in territorial structure of vegetation cover of monitoring site “Stepok”: first of all, it is due to pyrogenic factor. In the vegetation composition of the site, large number of fine-contoured coenoses with predominance of Carduus acanthoides, “interspersed” with grasses, were found; growing phytocenotic role of this archaeophyte acts as destabilizing factor in functioning of steppe reserve.
