Aim of the study: study of the pyrogenic damage peculiarities in Ukrainian forests in different natural zones in order to provide scientific support for forestry measures on mitigating negative impact caused by forest fires. Methodology of the study: methods of comparative ecology, post-event and systems analysis. Methods of fire monitoring using Earth remote sensing and GIS technologies have been mastered. The frequency and area of fires in Ukrainian landscapes have been estimated in various natural zones. A landscape fire database has been established containing information on the number and area of fires, with additional information on the landscape type, features, topography, exposure, population density, distances from roads, railways and settlements, etc. The frequency and area of landscape fires were analysed in terms of the above factors. The number and area of fires during 2022 were estimated and their temporal and spatial trends were assessed. The change in fire regimes was preliminarily assessed as a result of the direct and indirect impact of hostilities; the extent of the damage to individual nature conservation areas was determined. Changes in the condition of fire-damaged pine forests were assessed using the Earth remote sensing methods. The scales for assessing natural fire danger have been updated and improved.
