For the first time, the concept of "community identity" is substantiated as a multi-level system construct that is formed as a result of a person's understanding of his belonging to a certain community and subjective attitude to this belonging on the basis of a stable emotional connection, as well as inclusion in his inner world and perception as his own, community and group norms and values. Community identity is the result of value-normative self-determination of the individual and the community in response to their internal and external activity. It is crystallized under the influence of existential threats. It is substantiated that the categorization of people according to the assigned community identity, on the one hand, contributes to the stabilization of the social system, and on the other hand, it limits the space for changes and generates internal tension. The notion of territorial community identity, which is considered as local, regional, national (ethnic and/or civic) and global, has been clarifiedFor the first time, the types of community identities (ethnic, national, civil, European, as well as local and regional identities) that can compete, conflict with each other or harmoniously coexist in the conditions of military and political confrontation are defined.
