The purpose of the work is the development of high-speed selective protection against short-circuiting to the ground in the electrical systems of own-use TPPs and NPPs based on a mathematical model of such systems. Research methods – mathematical modeling of processes in electrotechnical systems of own needs of power stations and protection devices, simulation of processes on a physical model, methods of process analysis and development of new principles of action and algorithms of microprocessor protection. New theoretical and applied foundations for building mathematical models of electrical systems of power plants' own needs have been developed, new features of transient processes in ground fault modes have been obtained, and new algorithms for high-speed relay protection devices and switching to backup power have been developed based on them. These algorithms are implemented using modern microprocessor technology. Also, during the implementation of the project, a research methodology was developed based on a mathematical model in order to take into account a large number of factors that operate in real electrical networks. The program and methodology for testing mock-up and experimental samples of protection devices and switching devices have been developed. Methods and devices for fast detection of a short circuit to the ground and algorithms of a microprocessor device for determining the direction of damage in 6 kV electrical networks are useful practical and methodological developments.
