The application of the principles of objectivity, historicism, the relationship between the historical and the logical, etc. in the research is substantiated. It is appropriate to use systemic and structural-functional approaches and general scientific methods. The conditions for the development of the theoretical and practical foundations of organic farming in Ukraine, which were ensured by changes in the state's agrarian policy, are highlighted. One of the positive aspects was the redistribution of national income in favor of agriculture. During the 1990s - 2000s, Ukraine, having a significant potential for the production of organic agricultural products, its export, consumption in the domestic market, achieved certain results in the development of domestic organic agriculture. For its theoretical and practical support, it was important to substantiate the optimal structure of sown areas and crop rotations and other agrotechnical measures, which were developed by scientists of research institutions of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. One of the mechanisms for guaranteeing the quality and safety of products produced using organic technologies was the certification of its producers, which certified the compliance of organic products with the established rules of its production.
