Aim of the research: to establish patterns in occurrence of short-term palaeoenvironmental events during the Last and Current Interglacials, their cyclicity and direction, as a framework for forecasting future environmental changes in the forest-steppe, broad-leaved forest and steppe zones of Ukraine. Methods of the research: pedostratigraphical, geochronological, geomorphological and palaeogeomorphological, lithological, geochemical, palaeopedological, micromorphological, palynological, palaeoclimatological and past landscape science. The conducted research presents a new concept and algorithm for investigation of short-term palaeoenvironmental events during interglacials, which was approbated for the territory of the forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine; further improved and elaborated palaeopedological, micromorphological, geochemical, and palynological methods and synthesis of their results for the reconstruction of short-term environmental changes; a critical review and summary of previous studies are presented, including various landscape regions of Ukraine, Northern, Central and Western Europe; new data are obtained through field and laboratory studies in the Middle Dnieper and the Volyn’ regions and laboratory analyses of sediment cores from lakes Chokrak and Saki (Crimea); short-term phases of palaeoenvironmental changes (ca. 1000–1500 years) are established in various provinces of the forest-steppe zone; a series of landscape maps has been designed for the territory of the broad-leaved forest and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine based on the phases of the Last Interglacial.  Product Description popup.authors Avdeyenko Yulia L.
