The object of the study is the application of the communicative method of teaching foreign language of professional orientation in the system of language training of the personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The purpose of the work is to substantiate the scientific and methodological foundations for the development of English textbooks of professional orientation for certain specializations of training cadets of the NAA and language training system of the personnel of the AF of U. Research methods are theoretical: analysis and synthesis, abstraction and concretization, generalization, induction, analogy, modeling, comparison and systematization of scientific, pedagogical, educational and methodical literature, regulatory and legal documents, guiding documents of higher military educational institutions (HMEI) to clarify the state of development of the research problem; empirical: study of literature and results of educational activities of HMEI, observation, conducting a pedagogical experiment, study and generalization of pedagogical experience. Research results: 1. The scientific and methodological foundations of the development of unified manuals on foreign languages of professional orientation based on the communicative method are substantiated. 2. The main requirements and parameters regarding the content, structure, volume of content and depth of disclosure of lexical material are defined. 3. The projects of textbooks for learning the English language of the professional military orientation for certain specializations «Military specialized English (MSE) (Military Engineers)», «MSE (Missile Forces and Artillery)» and «MSE (Mechanized and Tank Troops)» were developed. 4. Methodological recommendations have been developed for the use of these training manuals in the system of language training of personnel of the Ground Forces of the AF of U. and, in particular, in the educational process of non-linguistic HMEI.
