The purpose of the research work is to substantiate the scientific and methodological approaches to determining the directions and ways of forming the future officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Research methods are system analysis, methods of multivariate comparative analysis, synthesis and methods of expert evaluations. The novelty of the work is that according to the results of the conducted research: an analysis of the experience of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (hereinafter - the AF of Ukraine) and the armed forces of individual NATO member states regarding the formation of a comprehensive vision of the image of the future officer and the development of visions was made; recommendations for designing the vision of a future officer in the Armed Forces of Ukraine were developed. The work is logically connected with previous studies carried out within the scope of scientific research works "Prospect", "Vector-KP", "Perspective", "Preparation-N". In the future, the research materials can be used to substantiate and design conceptual documents on military personnel policy in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the activities of personnel services of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the educational process of the National University of Defense of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovskyi and higher military educational institutions, and in further scientific research.
