The purpose of the work: to reduce the frequency of the formation of severe forms of metabolic diseases, early disability, and developmental delay in newborns with congenital metabolic disorders against the background of perinatal pathology through early diagnosis and correction of metabolic disorders and the development of a system of their medical and social support. Research methods: retro- and prospective, clinical, laboratory, instrumental, and statistical. On the basis of the comprehensive study of the anamnesis data, the results of clinical and laboratory, instrumental examination of newborns with congenital metabolic diseases and perinatal pathology, neonatal screening of 29 hereditary metabolic diseases (HMD), further medical monitoring of neurodevelopmental features and the formation of chronic pathology, a system of medical and social support for children with perinatal pathology against the background of congenital metabolic diseases from birth to 3 years of life, aimed at improving perinatal outcomes and reducing early disability. Screening diagnostics of 29 HMDs were implemented on the basis of the State Institution ‘Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Gynecology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine’ and for the first time improved the technique of taking capillary blood from children during the screening procedure using a sampler based on the innovative technology of volumetric absorption of micro volumes of blood.
