Registration Date 07-02-2023 Organization Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  Based on the results of the first stage of the scientific project, a study of the historiography and history of studies of the early state canters of Podesennya (end of the 9th - beginning of the 11th century), as well as an outline of the topographical and planographic structure of the Vypovziv and Shestovytskyi archaeological complexes, was carried out. About twenty archaeological sources containing the results of field archaeological research from the 19th to the 21st centuries have been processed. (more than 2 thousand units in archives). According to the results of the study of the topographical structure, it was found that, first of all, the Vypovziv archaeological complex should be included among the early urban centres, known as "viky" in Northern Europe, or among open trade and craft settlements in Eastern Europe. From the very beginning of the existence of this settlement - a support centre of the Grand Duchy of Kyiv authorities - its main task was to perform the functions of a transhipment point during the resettlement of people from various regions in Podesennya, and first, soldiers. Vypopoziv was located two days' journey up the Desna River from the historic Vyshhorod. The Shestovytskyi complex, located not far from Chernihiv, became the next supporting centre, which was more developed in terms of topography, economy, and population. The subordination of the latter to the Kyiv elite became a marker of the transition to a new stage of feudalization of this area of early Rus'. Based on the results of this stage, illustrative materials for the sections were selected and completed: topographic plans, aerial photography, orthophoto plans, 3D models of excavations plans and objects, tables of ceramics and artefacts finds.
