This function-oriented approach is especially important for products subject to high power and thermal loads during operation. Optimizing the cutting parameters of such materials is a complex and multifactorial task of technological design. In this scientific study, a simulation method was used to analyze the power, thermodynamic load and stress-strain state of machining workpieces made of difficult-to-machine materials using the finite element method, as well as experimental studies. The features of creating simulation models of the stress-strain and thermodynamic state of a titanium alloy workpiece in the cutting zone based on the finite element theory, the rheological model of the material being machined, and the priority of using energy, deformation, and force criteria for the destruction of titanium alloys in the process of their machining are presented. The feasibility of using the type of strain modeling (Lagrange Incremental or Steady-State Machining), the iterative research method (direct iteration or Newton-Raphsen method), the type of strain and temperature solver (Skyline method or sparse matrix method), as well as the solution convergence error (for the force vector and the strain rate vector) is analyzed. An original methodology for modeling residual deformations and stresses of the first kind in the Deform 2D system is proposed, which involves the use of a grid of reference points along the treated surface and along the depth of the workpiece in the zone of its thermal stabilization. The residual stress curve of the first kind reflects the interference pattern of fluctuating tensile (temperature and frictional) and compressive (force) loads.
