It was established that iodine and bromine are present in the groundwater of all aquifers and complexes from Meso-Cenozoic to Paleozoic sediments of the study area. Since bromine and iodine are characterized by a certain composition of elements with which they can form compounds and these elements are not very widespread, the migration of bromine and iodine to a large extent occurs in atomic (ionic-molecular) form. Bromine and iodine anomalies in groundwater are confined to anticlinal structures controlled by deep faults. They are formed in the centers of heat and mass transfer in the earth's crust, which are connected with the discharge of waters of deep horizons enriched with bromine and iodine. In Paleozoic sediments lying at great depths, there is water exchange between sedimentogenic and metamorphogenic waters, as well as with deep fluids in long-term fault zones. The discharge of these waters into the upper aquifer complexes significantly affects the formation of the hydrogeochemical zonation of the southeastern part of the Dnipro-Donetsk Basin and contributes to the formation of hydrogeochemical anomalies, including bromine and iodine anomalies. Spatial coincidence of these anomalies with geothermal anomalies is very often observed, which indicates intensive processes of heat and mass transfer in the underground hydrosphere of the region.
