The object of research is electrolyte systems and electrode materials for lithium-sulfur batteries. The purpose of the work is to develop a strategy for selecting the optimal solvent for creating high-energy current sources based on the electrochemical systems alkali metal - sulfur or a sulfur-containing compound. Research methods – conductometry, impedance spectroscopy, voltammetry, galvanostatic cycling, electron microscopy. A strategy for choosing solvents, salt concentration, nature and concentration of additives for electrolytes of lithium-sulfur batteries has been developed in order to improve their specific and cyclic characteristics, as well as to reduce self-discharge. When developing the strategy, the main factors that determine the influence of the composition of the electrolyte on the stability of the open circuit voltage (OCV) after the assembly of the mock-up sample of the battery and when storing the charged state, the value of specific capacity depending on the concentration of sulfur in the composition of the electrode, its fraction, current density and cycle number. The specific and cyclic characteristics of the sulfur electrode were determined for different composition of solvents, salt concentration and composition of composite sulfur electrodes.
