A complex source of erosive metal plasma with improved plasma flow characteristics and the ability to control the flow profile on the target is proposed. The possibility of destruction of microdroplets of the material of the erosion discharge cathode directly in the plasma flow by introducing additional energy into the target flow by creating a cloud of fast electrons in the volume of the system is shown. New modes of discharge with a hollow cathode were experimentally investigated, which, due to the increase in the temperature of the main mass of electrons to 60 eV, allow more effective use of such a system for removing microdroplets from the ion-plasma flow of a vacuum-arc source. The use of the proposed system made it possible to synthesize high-quality layers of amorphous titanium dioxide. The method of registration and subsequent analysis of images of the bremsstrahlung radiation of an atmospheric high-frequency discharge plasma in the spectral range of 400÷600 nm shows that the electron temperature practically does not change along the plasma jet and its value is ≈ 1.2 eV. It is shown that the "two-temperature" character of the FREE of a low-pressure discharge plasma with a hollow cathode in argon in the energy range of 0-12 eV is related to the influence on the FREE of the processes of excitation of electronic states Ar(2pи) from the metastable states of argon Ar(1s5,1s3). An electromagnetic system for forming a beam of negatively charged ions based on Miller forces and the volume charge of positive ions of the resident gas is proposed.
