Acousto-optical (AO) diffraction of circularly polarized optical waves (carrying optical spin momentum (SAM)) on circularly polarized AW (carrying acoustic SAM) in crystals exhibiting both acoustic conical refraction and optical activity was analyzed. Due to the conical refraction of AW, a vector-vortex acoustic beam is generated. Collinear AO diffraction can be considered as the transfer process of CAM AW in OAM of a diffracted optical wave. A new approach to the determination of elastic-optical coefficients based on the Dixon–Cohen method and AO diffraction on circularly polarized AW carrying SAM was developed, and specific cases of crystals belonging to trigonal syngonia and some symmetry groups of tetragonal and hexagonal syngonia were analyzed. The AO interaction (six different types) of AW and proper optical waves with SAM, which is equal to ±ħ, in gyrotropic crystals was investigated and analyzed. The anisotropy of the effective elastic-optical coefficients and the AO figure of merit were analyzed and experimentally investigated using the Dixon–Cohen method on the example of Pb5Ge3O11 crystals. It was experimentally shown that AO diffraction on shear AW propagated in fused quartz changes the states of linear and circular polarization to orthogonal ones. AO cell made of glassy material, in which the shear AW propagates, can be used as a quantum NOT gate for polarization-encoded qubits, and it is also possible to obtain a CNOT gate. The advantage of the proposed method consist in the possibility of spatial control of qubits with the help of AO diffraction, which occurs when the AW frequency changes.
