Academy of medical science Ukraine popup.description2  It was found that out of 868 cases of this pathology, recurrences of cardiac myxoma were found in 16 patients, which was 1.8%. Embolism of peripheral arteries as a complication of the course of the disease was detected in 58 patients (6.3%). Ischemic heart disease, which required surgical correction, accompanied 39 (4.5%) cases of heart tumors. Damage to the valvular system of the heart occurred in 70 (8.1) patients. The occurrence of coronary artery embolism in heart tumors is extremely rare and, according to our data, reaches 0.2% of all patients with heart neoplasms. For the correction of coronary artery lesions in heart tumors, the entire range of surgical techniques is used, including coronary artery stenting, aorto-coronary bypass, removal of the myocardial bridge, and ventricular aneurysm resection. Repeated operations were performed in 12 patients, which was associated with the recurrence of the tumor process or the occurrence of a tumor in places other than the primary localization. The frequency of detection of "myxoma syndrome" was 0.8% of cases (in which the need for repeated operations can reach 42%). Radicality of the removal of the heart mix largely depends not only on the volume of excision of the affected tissues, but also on the adequacy of treatment of the vessels feeding the neoplasm. The frequency of concomitant lesions of the valvular system in myxomas of the heart is 8.1%. Among the main mechanisms of damage to the heart valves, such as mechanical damage to the valves (43.2%), involvement of the valve apparatus in the tumor process (14.9%), and dilatation of the heart valves (41.8%) should be noted. Both plastic methods (61.1%) and valve prosthetics (20.9%) are used to restore the function of damaged valves in heart myxomas, depending on the nature of their destruction or involvement in the tumor process.
