Anatomical and physiological features of rare plant species were studied in natural conditions and criteria-markers were selected on this basis for evaluating changes in the structural and functional state of plants in vitro; a method of optimizing the ratio of the species composition of algae of different systematic groups (green, diatom, blue-green) capable of contributing to the cleaning of freshwater natural reservoirs contaminated with ecotoxicants has been developed; general regularities and regional peculiarities of chemical transformations of water ecosystems and soils under conditions of intensive agriculture and urbanization processes have been established; preliminary ecological assessment of water ecosystems and soils was carried out; the physiological, biochemical and molecular mechanisms of the response of the carp Danio rerio to the action of widely used herbicides under conditions of individual and combined effects were investigated.
