Registration Date 26-02-2023 Organization State Gemmological Centre of Ukraine popup.description2  During the implementation of the NNTR on the first intermediate stage, the collection, summarization and analysis of the received bibliographic data from the world's leading gemological laboratories, such as: GIA, GAA, DGemG, GEM-A and scientific bibliographic sources of the corresponding profile on the synthesis, imitation and refinement of semi-precious stones, was carried out. The Ukrainian jewelry market was analyzed for the presence of synthetic analogues, imitations and refined semi-precious stones. It was established which stones and which imitations of semi-precious stones are most often found, and which are not at all, which are the most common types of refinement of semi-precious stones found on our market and which synthetic stones are sold on it. Is defined: - most of the refined semi-precious stones present on the market of Ukraine are artificially colored and impregnated with polymers or wax; - reconstructed stones are rarely found on our jewelry market and are mainly represented by reconstructed turquoise; - composite semi-precious stones are represented mainly by doublets, which consist of either two varieties of semi-precious stones or semi-precious stones and a composite material; - the vast majority of imitations of semi-precious stones are represented by artificial substitutes (glass, plastic, composite material); - natural imitations are little-known minerals and rocks that, due to their similarity in color or artificial coloring, are similar to long-known semi-precious stones; - synthetic semi-precious stones represented by malachite and turquoise. Based on the study of diagnostic features, data was obtained that allowed us to identify the main methods of diagnosing refined, artificial, synthetic semi-precious stones and their natural imitations. The main diagnostic methods were highlighted:color, structure, texture, density, light refraction, Mohs scale, brittle-viscosity, IR-Fourier spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, luminescence, acid react.
