The purpose of the work is to clarify the current problems of research and teaching of the Japanese language and literature. Research methods: analysis and synthesis; descriptive, comparative and historical. As a result of the study of the topic of the GDR, actual problems of research and teaching of Japanese language and literature were identified, a conceptual generalization was made on how the Japanese language and literature function as a whole and the teaching of these two disciplines needs constant improvement. It has been proven that the Japanese language is in constant development in accordance with the needs of society. The factors were revealed thanks to which the conditions for increasing the efficiency of students' assimilation of various forms of language activity and hieroglyphics, in particular, were revealed. It is shown that the teaching of literature should be based on works with traditional Japanese artistic and stylistic techniques. The conducted research showed that the Japanese language and literature are dynamically developing and require continuous study for appropriate teaching to students. For the first time in domestic science, a comprehensive approach to the simultaneous analysis of language, teaching of language and literature was carried out, and an inseparable connection between the study of language and literature and their teaching was established. The research is based on the previous work of the performers, reflected in their numerous publications, has significant scientific-theoretical, methodological and practical significance and can be continued in the form of research projects. The results of the research can be used by universities for teaching courses on Japanese language and literature, research, analytical and educational institutions.
