The purpose of the research is to study the systemic nature of units of Romance languages – from lexical units to various types of discourse – in cognitive, communicative and functional aspects. The research methods that have been used are the general analysis methods, such as observation, description, systematization, generalization, comparison, in combination with linguistic methods, such as semantic-cognitive analysis, conceptual analysis, narrative analysis, frame modeling, contextual-interpretive analysis, discourse analysis, linguistic-semiotic and linguistic stylistic analysis, modeling of possible worlds; comparative-historical, structural methods, elements of quantitative analysis, methods of propositional-semantic organization of lexical word-forming nests, component analysis, morphological-syntactic analysis, cognitive-semantic method of seminal description, functional-pragmatic method of analysis. The project was also focused on the creation, approbation and verification of some complex research methodologies: the modelling of linguistic-cognitive scenarios of a literary narrative; the study of the ideographic writing of the French language, in particular the letter symbolism of the French writing; the examination of anglicisms in the Spanish tourist discourse in the structural, semantic and functional-pragmatic aspects; the revealing of the terminological and phraseological nomination of games in the modern Spanish language; an updated method of propositional-semantic organization of lexical word-forming nests.
