In linguo-Ukrainian studies, the problem of variantness at different structural levels of the vernacular and literary standard has been studied in a fragmentary manner. A comprehensive study of the set of theoretical and practical issues related to the definition of variants and doublets, specific issues of variation, and the correlation "vernacular - codified" is not yet available in linguistic-Ukrainian studies. Some theoretical problems of variants have not yet been unequivocally resolved and have not been worked out substantiated recommendations on the choice of options in language practice. That is why the attention of the executors of the scientific project is focused on a complex of research areas, the most important of which are the following: 1. Typology of dialect variants according to different structural levels. 2. Analysis of the findings of variation in dialects (variation of emphasis; variants of Ukrainian dialect intonation; lexical and semantic variation; grammatical variation; variation in the dialect dictionary). 3. Research Study of the phenomena of semantic and grammatical (morphological and syntactic) variability in the Ukrainian literary language. 4. Comparison of variation in Ukrainian dialects and the academic standard (variation in emphasis, variation in the nomination of flora objects, etc.). 5. Problems of orthographic variation in the current "Ukrainian spelling".
