In addition, the scientific analysis made it possible to establish the theoretical and legal basis for the modernization of higher education and models for the use of modern educational technologies in the field of teaching foreign languages in higher education institutions. The study included: 1) analysis of the vocabulary of modern English in terms of the emergence of new lexical units and the transformation of the meanings of existing vocabulary, productive models of their formation and peculiarities of functioning in discourse; 2) identification of discourse-specific characteristics of English metacommunication of various types, individual communication strategies and tactics of influence on the interlocutor, as well as linguistic means of their implementation; 3) identification of ways to modernize the language training of future specialists in English. The conducted research resulted in the creation of the wide range of elective courses on various aspects of learning and functioning of the English language which ensured the realization of students' right to form their own educational trajectory.
