The experimental laboratory stands of the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine were adapted to the needs of the project tasks. The design and manufacture of separate components of the laboratory stand, of sources of charged particles and power sources, of diagnostic elements of the characteristics of the objects under study were developed. An innovative scheme for forming the working mode of the laboratory layout of the space engine is proposed. The layout was tested in two configurations. The VAC of different modes of operation of the ion-plasma source with virtualized cathodes and the mode of operation with virtual electrodes of the second stage of traction flow formation were obtained.
