The purpose of the work: to expand the study of the distribution, biology, and epidemiological significance of the most common species of ixodid ticks in the conditions of the western region of Ukraine. To propose effective measures to limit the number of ixod ticks in natural and artificial biocenoses. Research methods: field collections, microscopic studies, morphometric, biochemical, mathematical, statistical. The main materials and tools used for the capture, preservation and identification of ticks were tweezers, magnifying glasses, dissecting needles, white cloth for a flag, alcohol 70%, test tubes, opto-electronic system SEO - IMAGLAB. Identification tables given in the monographs of domestic and foreign scientists were used to identify ticks [2, 7, 10]. Pathogens carried by extracted ticks were determined by preparation of a suspension of ticks, isolation of the DNA itself, and subsequent amplification using the "ROTORGene -6000" amplifier in "real time". Research results. An analysis of 45 literary sources, mainly by foreign authors, was carried out, in which the results of research on the biology of ixodid ticks were revealed.
