Peculiarities in diurnal variations of the ellipticity coefficient and the inclination angle of the "polarization ellipse" of the ELF burst field are revealed. The polarization is close to zero during the day and the ellipticity coefficient increases in average to 0.1 at night; significant variations of the ellipticity coefficient and the inclination angle are observed during the passage of the morning and evening terminator near the propagation paths. A model has been developed that explains the deviations in determining the azimuth of sources as the result of diffraction of ELF waves at the day-night inhomogeneities. A method of correcting the systematic error in determining the azimuth of the arrival of VLF atmospherics, associated with the non-identity of the receiving channels of the magnetic components of the field and the deviation of the orientation of the respective magnetic antennas from geographical directions. The analysis of tweek atmospherics revealed seasonal variations in the effective height of the lower ionosphere, which can be explained by the increase in the electron concentration in the lower ionosphere during the local winter months - the so-called "winter anomaly". 2) A method of monitoring "electromagnetic smog" have been developed and implemented at the Antarctic station "Academician Vernadsky". The composition of the electromagnetic VLF background and the characteristics of its natural and man-made components were obtained as a result of the analysis of data of monitoring at the Antarctic station "Academician Vernadsky". Local and global sources of electromagnetic "pollution" in the VLF range have been identified. Product Description popup.authors Ivanov Viktor K. Gorishnya Yulia V. Nickolaenko Oleksandr P.
