The first step to solving this task is the need to develop and research the energy potential of the regions of Ukraine, namely the Kharkiv region. The study of the economic potential makes it possible to determine the indicators that significantly reflect its formation and use, and with the help of economic and mathematical methods and models to determine the scenarios of the regions' behavior in the conditions of a non-stationary external environment. The study developed a methodical approach to the diagnosis of the energy potential of the region, as a mathematical tool used methods of cluster analysis - to form common groups of clusters of regions and determine their common features; methods of discriminant analysis - for the construction of classification functions, with the aim of further identification of regions when their energy potential changes; methods of time series analysis - in order to build thorn models for forecasting the development of the energy potential of the region. The object of the study is the process of forming the energy potential of the Kharkiv region. The goal is to improve the theoretical and methodological support for assessing the energy potential of the Kharkiv region. The subject of the research is methods of cluster and discriminant analysis, models of time series analysis. Computer modeling and visualization of results using PP Statistics were also used in the work.
