The potential of carbon sequestration by the mineral matrix of soils and the specific flux of carbon dioxide from the soil surface of post-agrarian ecosystems in the experimental landfills of the Western Polissia and the Beskids were estimated. It was found that spontaneous sylvatization causes the formation of both natural ecosystems of the zonal type and secondary ecosystems due to the expansion of Scots pine on the territory of Podillia and Beskids.
