The subject of research is the performance and characteristics of insulation of high-voltage power transformers in long-term operation, considering the design and operating modes of electrical networks. The purpose of the work is to increase the operational reliability of high-voltage oil-filled equipment of electrical networks by improving the methods and criteria for assessing their technical condition. The analysis of the gas content of oils for 2475 transformers with defects of different types was performed, which allowed to establish the ranges of values of diagnostic criteria for transformers with defects of different types, including those defects for which these values are not regulated in any of the known standards. A method for recognizing the type of defect by a set of diagnostic criteria has been developed and its high efficiency has been proven in comparison with existing methods. The analysis of the distribution laws of transformer oil indicators based on the results of periodic tests of the oil condition for 231 transformers of 110 kV and 49 autotransformers of 330 kV is carried out. It is established that the values of oil indicators of both suitable and unsuitable for operation are the Weibull distribution. The boundary values of the indicators obtained using the methods of statistical solutions are analysed. According to the results of the analysis, it was found that the most effective is the minimum risk method. The main regularities of oil ageing in conditions of long-term operation are analysed. The trajectories method was developed to recognize transformers with accelerated oil ageing.
