Imperfect controllability of civilizational processes inevitably causes an increase in anthropogenic and technogenic load on the surrounding natural environment, which gradually leads humanity to an ecological disaster. To solve these problems, such an effective environmental management tool as environmental audit has been used for quite a long time, which provides for the transfer to society and the private sector of the economy of part of the powers, responsibilities and risks related to the implementation of environmental projects. Imperfect regulatory framework, The purpose of the work is to develop theoretical and scientific-methodical approaches to the activation of environmental audit in the conditions of market relations to increase the level of environmental safety. The object of research is the processes of development of environmental audit in the conditions of market relations, which are a prerequisite for increasing the level of environmental safety of the region. Research methods. The theoretical basis of the research is the fundamental provisions of modern economic theory, economics of nature use and environmental protection.
