The purpose of the work is to carry out complex, interdisciplinary scientific research, aimed at solving the urgent problems of the current state of forensic expert activity and identifying modern trends and approaches to improving the process of learning, teaching and conducting scientific research in the field of forensics and criminology. Research methods - the scientific work was carried out using the general system-structural method, the main elements of which provided the possibility of building models for solving the set problems. The basis of the system of methodology of scientific analysis is: dialectical, systematic, statistical comparative method and the method of documentary analysis. The research also used other methods of cognition, for example, structural-logical and comparative-legal methods became the main ones in the study of foreign experience of using open educational resources in the field of expert provision of justice. The use of methods of analysis and synthesis in research work is comprehensive. The scientific novelty of the obtained results lies in the solved complex of scientific tasks devoted to the theoretical understanding of modern problems of criminology and forensic examination, the issue of modernization of methods of training forensic experts, as well as prospects for the future development of this field in Ukraine and Latvia. The theoretical and practical results of the work consist in the creation of an open educational and scientific web resource, which contains modern and systematized knowledge in the field of forensic examination and criminology.
