The purpose of the work is to develop and justify theoretical and methodological approaches and practical foundations for studying the features of the imagery of American, British and Australian discourse and the further development of the theory of images and concepts in communicative, pragmatic and cultural aspects; identifying verbal and non-verbal means of creating the poetics of the narrative of English, American and Australian literary texts. Research methods - traditional and modern methods of linguistic research are used in the scientific work together with the developed complex integrative method of analyzing speech structures in three dimensions: pre-conceptual, conceptual and verbal. Attention is focused on the problems of linguistic-cognitive modeling of concepts and different types of images; identifying the linguistic-cognitive mechanisms of their formation and communicative-pragmatic properties that ensure the implementation of the pragmatic instruction of the text, the author's intention and, finally, exert a certain perlocutionary influence on the reader and/or create an emotional resonance. A thorough analysis of the features and trends in the development of the journalistic discourse of the American and British linguistic culture was carried out; the dominant communicative and pragmatic strategies of their functioning are established. The multimodal nature of the narrative is revealed through the analysis of verbal and non-verbal semiotic modes.
