Registration Date 22-04-2023 Organization Institute of Carpathian Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  According to the results of the project in the western regions of Ukraine (Western Polissia, North-Western Podillia and the Ukrainian Carpathians and the Pannonian Lowland) and on the basis of our own original developments, the identification, inventory and assessment of the distribution of dominant types of settlements were carried out, and their main parameters were determined. On the basis of the received information, a comprehensive environmental protection assessment was carried out according to the adapted and improved scale of environmental protection categorization of settlements, an expanded structure of the settlement description, optimal for the performance of monitoring and management tasks, was proposed. Grounded scientific principles of using information on the state of dominant types of housing for the assessment of the general state of the environment in specific regions with the purpose of further use of the obtained information for territorial planning and examination of economic development projects. The perspectives of assessment and spatial visualization of the carbon capacity of the dominant types of settlements in the Ukrainian Carpathians are analyzed in the context of the further development of modern approaches to the assessment of anthropogenic changes in ecosystems. The obtained data are the basis for methodological recommendations regarding the implementation and implementation of the scientific principles of rational nature use and ecological management at the regional level, taking into account the goals of sustainable development. Based on the results of the work, a Catalog of dominant types of habitats of the western regions of Ukraine will be prepared, as well as a methodical monograph on the assessment of the state and ecological potential of biota at the regional level in order to assess the resource potential and management of the environment in the context of sustainable development.
