In total, 291 species of hydrobionts were found in the composition of hydrobiological communities, among which 263 species were found in estuarine water areas and 113 species were found in the river part. As part of the biotic complexes, 12 alien species were found, 10 of which were registered in the mouth of the Bystriy arm. Biological pollution of the sites corresponded to "low" (mouth of the arms and arms. Ochakivskyi) or "medium" (all river sections of the GSH) levels. According to the general results of the determination of the ecological state, the river and estuary water areas of the GSH, as well as the studied areas outside its boundaries, belonged to the II-III class (good-satisfactory) ecological state, no significant negative impact was registered in the area of hydraulic works and operation of the GSH. In order to improve the monitoring of the impact of GHGs on freshwater ecosystems, it is proposed to expand the network of monitoring stations in river sections outside the boundaries of GHGs and coordinate expeditionary research with the period of dredging works.
