It is established that electrical signals and infrared radiation flow are the most informative for controlling tool wear and surface roughness parameters of the part during machining. Theoretical studies have shown that molecular thermal processes generated in the cutting zone affect the wear process of the cutting tool. Based on the study of the machining process at the microstructural level, it was found that the variable component of the electromotive force that occurs during cutting can be a source of information about tool wear. A mathematical model of cutting tool wear based on the variable component of the cutting electromotive force was developed. A device for measuring the variable component of the EMF on machine tools was developed, which made it possible to increase the accuracy and reliability of control. The relationship between the infrared radiation flux from the cutting zone and the surface roughness parameters of the workpiece was established. A comprehensive system for controlling the machining process in "unmanned technology" based on measurements of the alternating component of the EMF and infrared radiation flux was developed. A block diagram of the device for measuring the infrared radiation flux during the machining process was developed. The control system is based on the task of improving the quality of surface treatment of the part, reducing the cost of production, increasing labour productivity, reducing the number of defective parts by timely detection of the critical condition of the tool. The paper presents an algorithm for the operation of the control system for machining parts in the conditions of "unmanned technology".
