The research methods are theoretical (using a systematic approach and multi-criteria optimisation) and experimental. The main result of the study is the development of a method for a comprehensive assessment of vehicle performance when running on different types of fuels according to various criteria: adaptability, environmental safety and economic efficiency of operation. Individual criteria are combined into a general criterion for choosing a rational type of motor fuel. A comprehensive assessment of the prospects for the use of gas motor fuels in technological vehicles has been carried out. The scope of practical application of the results is motor transport enterprises, municipal services and agricultural enterprises.
