The goal of the work: create new composite materials for the armor elements based on boron carbide activated by metal borides, oxides, and silicides. Methods of research: spark plasma sintering, differential thermal analysis, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray phase analysis, X-ray crystal structure analysis, hydrostatic density measurement, Vickers hardness measurement. Obtained results: laboratory prototypes of ceramics for armor elements were synthesized by the spark plasma sintering method - new superhard ceramics of the initial compositions B4C, B4C+TiB2, B4C+CrB2, B4C+VB2, B4C+TiSi2, B4C+YB6, B4C+Y2O3, B4C+Nd2O3, which are characterized by high values of relative density (>96 %) and hardness (30-47.3 GPa).
