Research methods – mathematical modeling, physical experiment, registration of transient electrical processes, methods of optical and electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry. It was found that the result of high-voltage electric discharge (HVED) processing of elementary Ti powder in a hydrocarbon liquid (ethyl alcohol, kerosene) is grinding of powder to sizes of 3.5 μm and less, additional formation of dispersed TiC carbide, quantity of which increases from 19 to 32% with the growth of the specific processing energy in the range of 10 – 40 MJ/kg, and the absence of free carbon impurities. HVED treatment of a mixture of powders 85% Ti + 15% Al in kerosene with realization of volume-distributed multi-spark discharge is the most effective from the dispersion point of view, and the least effective was HVED processing with the implementation of a spark discharge, although both regimes are equivalent on the efficiency of the synthesis of additional carbide of the TiC phase, the amount of which doubles as the specific processing energy increases from 10 to 20 MJ/kg.
