Historical and theoretical approaches are combined with the practice of field research and monitoring of folklore bearers. Special attention is paid to textual analysis. An important place is occupied by issues of interaction of folklore genres, folklorism, oral history. The central place in the work belongs to the study of new folklore traditions. A comparative analysis of Ukrainian folklore heritage in the context of national, social and local identity is extremely relevant in the research. It is about the actualization of folkloristic studies, which allow combining traditional approaches with modern research methods. For example, it contributes to the expansion of the concept of folklore text to the scale of a communicative act and text as a cultural factor, which allows to carry out research on the typology of cultural and identification factors of each region as local models of ethnic culture. The result of the work is a collective monograph "Folklore in modern society: traditions, transformations". The relevant sections of which reflect the current state and dynamics of folklore traditions in Ukraine and in modern Europe. The changes taking place in folklore in connection with modern social transformations and globalization factors are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to modern migration processes and their impact on the destruction of folklore traditions, as well as the need to implement the UNESCO Convention "On the Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage", the involvement of the experience of European folkloristics and ethnology. The work will contribute to the development of state cultural policy, where folkloristics should occupy an important place as a state-building science.
