The Hamiltonian of the resonator-JPM system is derived and the JPM parameters are calculated. The Lindblad equation to describe the evolution of the resonator-JPM system is derived and its numerical and analytical solutions are obtained. The theoretical description of the JPM detector in terms of its positive operator-valued measure (POVM) is carried out. The statistics of JPM photocounts for typical quantum states of the resonator field (Fock, coherent, squeezed vacuum, and thermal) are obtained.
