For this purpose, the specifics of the content of the category "reliability" were defined, the specifics of the reliability of sociological knowledge were revealed, and the methodological principles of obtaining reliable knowledge (internal consistency and the possibility of empirical verification of theoretical knowledge, completeness of the operationalization of theoretical indicators, availability of relevant research tools, adequacy of interpretations of empirical research data) were substantiated. The empirical criteria of reliability (in quantitative and qualitative research) were systematized and specified: validity and its analogues in qualitative research, reliability (including subjective), objectivity as independence of research results from the individual, the socio-political position of the researcher and the external environment. For the first time in sociological research, a systematic study of discursive markers of the reliability of sociological knowledge related to the specifics of the researcher (his/her competence, ideological position and moral principles), as well as the specifics of the object of research - public opinion, the means of its representation (media, social networks, etc.), political and economic situation was carried out.
