The object of research is sea waters and the Black Sea ecosystem within the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine. The purpose of the work is to assess and diagnose the state of biocenoses and biodiversity of marine ecosystems. Research methods - studies of aquatic organisms at the population (biocoenotic) level, during which the state of planktonic and benthic groups of marine ecosystems was registered. The report provides the results of observations of the hydrobiological component of the ecosystems of the marine environment of the Ukrainian seas in 2022, and assesses the state of plankton and benthos biota according to environmental criteria and indicator species. Structural changes in the communities of hydrobionts were noted and their condition was determined. A review of national and world experience in bioassessment on macroalgae was carried out in order to develop a methodology for assessing the quality of the environment by bioassessment on macrophytes. In the Odesa region, 2 large-scale cases of water "blooms" were observed in the summer, caused by the massive development of the diatom Cerataulina pelagica (Cleve) Hendey 1937, which developed intensively in both cases, and Skeletonema costatum (Greville) Cleve 1873, and the dinophyte alga Prorocentrum micans Ehrenberg, 1834, which also reached the level of blooming in the second case.
