The purpose of the work is to identify the features and determine the leading trends in the modernization of the management system of school institutions, both in European countries and in Ukraine; check the possibilities of using this experience for the practical implementation of the tasks of reforming the management of educational institutions in accordance with the laws of Ukraine «On Higher Education» (2014), «On Education» (2017); to investigate the problematic issues of the development of educational management in Ukraine and the world and the prospects for the development of modern management in the field of education, to develop a technology for studying the basics of management of educational institutions of various types and levels. Relying on the scientific achievements of domestic and foreign scientists, on the experience of leaders of innovative educational institutions, determine the theoretical foundations of modern educational management and test them in the practical activities of management structures in the field of education. In the process of carrying out scientific work, modern scientific literature in the field of pedagogical, economic, psychological sciences on the training of education managers was studied. The leading place in the work on the specified topic was occupied by the question of researching the practice of managing author's schools through the prism of a historical perspective, modern innovative models of management of an educational institution were considered, which made it possible to describe a normative structural and functional model of an educational institution. In accordance with this model, with the aim of its successful operation, the system of training management personnel according to the author's program is substantiated.
