The purpose of the work is the development of analytical, numerical and experimental methods for studying the interaction of electromagnetic fields with plasma for their use in nuclear fusion devices and in the future in a demonstration thermonuclear reactor. Main results: A numerical code was developed and used for the modeling of the interaction of electromagnetic fields with plasma during high-frequency heating in the ion cyclotron frequency range. The fields with the polarization of the electric field along the magnetic field of the W 7-X stellarator, which are excited by the potential difference between the antenna elements, were studied. Modeling of propagation and absorption of a slow wave (SW) in a plasma with ions of three types was carried out for given density and temperature profiles and given ion concentrations. It is shown that the larger the initial toroidal wave number, the deeper the slow wave penetrates to the periphery of the plasma, and eventually the slow wave is completely absorbed due to Landau damping. The study of the propagation of SW depending on the plasma density on the axis showed that the lower the density on the axis, the geometrically deeper the beam penetrates into the plasma. Rays that propagate in the direction of the magnetic field penetrate deeper than the rays that propagate in the opposite direction. However, at the same time, a decrease in the plasma density on the axis leads to a decrease in the maximum density along the ray. Algorithms and programs for automated data processing of the experimental data of the measurements of electric and magnetic fields in plasma were developed.
