The available historiography was classified according to the thematic principle and several groups of scientific problems were identified: the origins of the Russian-Ukrainian war; the problem of aggressive foreign policy of the Russian Federation; the consequences of the Russian Federation's occupation of part of the territories of Ukraine; foreign policy aspects in the context of the modern Russian-Ukrainian war; various aspects of Russian-Ukrainian relations. The source basis of the research was analyzed, in particular online sources and memories of the participants in the hostilities. It was established that the developed source base (memoirs and personal reflections of servicemen mobilized for military service, participants of voluntary formations, volunteers) will complement research on the recent history of Ukraine and will become a powerful source for the formation of a policy of memory about the Russian-Ukrainian war.
