The object of the study is the process of formation of yield and grain quality of winter wheat and winter rye on typical low-humus chernozem in the conditions of the Western Forest Steppe. The subject of research is fertilization and crop care systems, varieties of winter wheat and winter rye. Research methods. The research is based on field experiments using the following methods: counting and weighing - to determine the density of plant stands and parameters of crop structure and grain yield, physico-chemical - and chemical - to determine the agrochemical parameters of the soil and protein content in grain, physical - to determine the nature grain, gluten content and its quality, mathematical and statistical - to establish the reliability of the obtained research results, comparative and calculation - to determine the economic efficiency of the researched elements of growing technology. According to the results of research carried out in the conditions of the Western Forest Steppe on ordinary, shallow, weakly humus chernozems in 2021-2023, the technologies for growing winter wheat and winter rye have been improved. The technology of growing winter wheat has been improved on the basis of the selection of high-yielding varieties, optimization of fertilization taking into account the removal of nutrients with a planned grain yield of 10 t/ha and the use of a highly intensive crop care system, which includes seed treatment with the use of microfertilizers and growth stimulators, complex application of herbicides, fungicides , insecticide, retardant, microfertilizers and growth stimulator at II-V stages of organogenesis.
