SOUTHERN OCEAN, HYDROLOGICAL FRONTS, SOUTHERN ORKNEY ISLANDS, ANTARCTIC STATION «ACADEMIC VERNADSKY». The object of the research is the water area of the Atlantic sector of the Southern Ocean and the water areas adjacent to the Ukrainian Antarctic Station «Akademik Vernadsky» (UAS). The purpose of the NDR is to identify the trends in climate changes in the oceanographic fields of the Southern Ocean in the areas and economic interests of Ukraine CCALMR 48.1 and 48.2 based on the data of measurements in 2022-2023, made on board the fish-krill trawler - Super «Commonwealth Sea» and on the UAS. Methods: traditional methods of graphic, statistical, spectral and volumetric T, S-analysis were used to process the data, satellite data were collected: from the drifting buoys of the «Argo» program, the «Copernicus» marine environment monitoring service. As a result, the interannual and seasonal variability of the main hydrological fronts of the South Atlantic is shown. The hydrological features of the waters in the fishing area near the South Orkney Islands have been revealed. The thermohaline characteristics of the inter-island waters of the Argentine archipelago and the waters of the Penola Strait is given. An assumption is made about the possible penetration of circumpolar deep waters into the Penola Strait. The specificity of the positive trend of air temperature at the UAS was revealed. The results of this work will expand knowledge about the Southern Ocean, to determine trends in climatic variability of oceanographic fields, to forecast areas of increased biological productivity and industrial significance.
