The morphology and granulometric composition of MAB phase powders obtained at different synthesis temperatures were established. It is shown that the powders have a conglomerate structure with an average particle size of about 80-100 microns. The chemical composition of the obtained powders was analyzed. It is shown that the weight ratio of the elements is: Ta - 34.2 wt. %, B – 28.8 wt. %, Al - 35.6 wt. %; O – 0.4 wt. %. The phase composition of both the initial elements and the synthesized powders was determined. It is shown that the production of Ta4AlB4 is achieved at a heating temperature of 900 °C.
