Stashis of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  Russia's military invasion of Ukraine is characterized by the unprecedented use of information influence, one of the dangerous manifestations and consequences of which is the glorification of armed aggression as an ideological basis for further imposing and promoting the narratives of the "Russian peace". The project aims to study anti-social glorification and related negative social and legal phenomena by clarifying the essence and origins of glorification, its forms and consequences; generalizing domestic and foreign experience of their manifestations. The project also addresses the issue of criminalization of glorification, its correlation with freedom of speech and other human rights and freedoms in the context of international experience and the practice of the ECHR, and assesses the current state of Ukrainian criminal legislation in the field of countering the glorification of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and its participants in terms of its effectiveness and sufficiency. An independent block of research questions is to analyze the quantitative and qualitative parameters of the glorification phenomenon; study the most typical ways of involvement in glorification and identify the categories of people prone to such activities, including the study of motivation; establish the achieved "effect" of glorification and its scale; find out the factors that determine the change in the intensity and topics of glorification, taking into account the situation in the "theater" of military events. The project will result in the development of a system of criminological and criminal legal means to counteract glorification, which, in the process of restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, will help preserve national unity and prevent mass stigmatization of the Ukrainian population in the occupied and de-occupied territories, as well as counteract the spread of Russian information expansion to other countries and international space.
